Students are not merely my customers, you are my product!
Tulane University's Biloxi students are mostly non-traditional students who are returning to school after realizing the importance of an education to achieving their goals in life. They are neither teenagers nor looking for their path in life. They have work experience as well as life experience and would qualify for most of the top MBA programs in the country if they had their Bachelors Degree. They expect more than just a diploma.
I will not disappoint them by lowering the standards of the classes I teach. Do not ask for multiple choice tests, crib sheet/study guides, or other shortcuts to full understanding of the course material. This is not Junior College and it is not Junior High. I realize that my students usually have jobs, families, or both. The time pressures involved can be overwhelming but it is up to you to manage them. It is nearly impossible to be a full-time student with a full-time job and achieve the grades of which you are capable so I generally recommend that students do one or the other part-time.
The graduate's payoff is a college degree worthy of your cost both in money and time. On graduation day you will join the mere 17 percent of people on the Mississippi Gulf Coast who have a college degree. By holding you and your successors to the highest standards, we will create the best type of Alumni-- knowledgeable, capable people whose presence creates goodwill in the business and broader community which then enhances the value of their degrees even further.
To be the best takes hard work. As a graduate of the Tulane University, you will join the elite of South Mississippi society.

I will assign an F for the entire course (rather than for the assignment) for any student caught engaging in any of the three forms of Academic Dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism, or unauthorized collaboration). I will also pursue Suspension/Expulsion for said student as per Tulane University's Honor Code.
