Students are not merely customers of the University of Southern Mississippi- Gulf Coast, you are our product!
I believe that USM-GC has the best business school in the state of Mississippi. This is due both to a solid faculty and even more important: an outstanding student body. Our faculty is here because it wants to be-- we certainly could make better money almost anywhere else (and in most cases have). Our students are mostly non-traditional students who are returning to school after realizing the importance of an education to achieving their goals in life. They are neither teenagers nor looking for their path in life. They have work experience as well as life experience and would qualify for most of the top MBA programs in the country if they had their Bachelors Degree. They expect more than just a diploma.
I will not disappoint them by lowering the standards of the classes I teach. Do not ask for multiple choice tests, crib sheet/study guides, or other shortcuts to full understanding of the course material. This is not Junior College and it is not Junior High. I realize that my students usually have jobs, families, or both. The time pressures involved can be overwhelming but it is up to you to manage them. It is nearly impossible to be a full-time student with a full-time job and achieve the grades of which you are capable so I generally recommend that students do one or the other part-time.
The graduate's payoff is a college degree worthy of your cost both in money and time. On graduation day you will join the mere 17 percent of people on the Mississippi Gulf Coast who have a college degree. By holding you and your successors to the highest standards, we will create the best type of Alumni-- knowledgeable, capable people whose presence creates goodwill in the business and broader community which then enhances the value of their degrees even further.
To be the best takes hard work. As a graduate of the USM-GC Business School, you will join the elite of South Mississippi society.
I have just been notified that classes at USM-GC will resume on October 10, 2005. I will try to put this word out thru other means as well.

I will assign an F for the entire course (rather than for the assignment) for any student caught engaging in any of the three forms of Academic Dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism, or unauthorized collaboration). I will also pursue Suspension/Expulsion for said student as per pp. 75-91 of the USM Student Handbook.

3. How-to Build Your Own Website
We are debating the creation of a USM- Gulf Coast Chapter of CR's. However it might be better to simply affiliate with the Gulf Coast Young Republicans since our student base is non-traditional. If you have a preference, let me know what you think.
Community Service DECA Judge Only was able to do this once but thoroughly enjoyed
